Ulster Rugby aiming to star in Europe with new 2020/21 kit

Ulster Rugby are aiming to star in Europe once again in 2020/21 with a new special edition kit designed by Kukri Sports for the new Heineken Champions Cup campaign which kicks off in December.

The geometric shapes on the red-hot new jersey take inspiration from the basalt columns that make up the Giant’s Causeway on the province’s North Coast – the result of volcanic activity millions of years ago and now Ulster’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site.

All club and sponsor logos on the front of the jersey are white, apart from the provincial crest, which appears in full colour and also features on the new away kit this season. Furthermore, the Ulster badge is finally crowned with a star in recognition of the province’s greatest achievement to date – the European Cup victory in 1999.

Terry Jackson, General Manager at Kukri Sports Ireland, said: “We have been delighted by the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the launches of the Women’s home and Men’s away jerseys over the past few weeks, so we hope Ulster fans will equally approve of the new European design which was created in partnership with the club over the past year.

“It’s always special seeing Ulster compete in the Heineken Champions Cup, so I hope the small reference to the team of ’99 will help inspire them to continued success in 2020/21.”

Ulster Rugby CEO, Jonny Petrie, said: “European weekends are always special, so it’s great to add to that sense of occasion with a special kit for the team to run out in during next season’s competition.

“Ulster is one of only 11 clubs to have lifted the European Cup, so it’s fantastic to finally deliver what our supporters have wanted for so long – a great looking kit that also recognises that special day at Lansdowne Road 21 years ago this year.”
