August Product Focus I Elite Rugby Jersey

The new Ulster Rugby jerseys were recently unveiled at an exclusive launch event at the Kingspan Stadium. With the new away jersey making its competitive debut in the pre-season friendly vs Leinster on 21st August, we caught up with Senior Product Designer, Hayley Harrison, to put the spotlight on both the home and away jerseys.
“For the Ulster home shirt we decided on a change from the Y-Neck Premier Jersey and instead used our Elite Jersey, as this had great feedback for the away shirt last season. The Elite Jersey features displaced side seams designed to minimise abrasion and give a neater fit. I wanted to create a design that would complement this. Both the home and away shirts feature a halftone pattern that follow the curves of the body, a change from previous shirts which have had more angular designs. It is made from our 4D-Tech fabric which is incredibly lightweight with great wicking properties and has four-way stretch properties making the jersey tight-fitting but comfortable; a second skin. The modern ‘bridge’ collar is reinforced, making it super strong and durable. We have followed the traditional Ulster colours for the home shirt whilst the away shirt is vivid with the main cyan body and distinctive electric lime trim. Whilst this is a change from the previous away shirts which have been less dynamic, so far feedback has been great. The lack of red detailing on the away shirt makes the Ulster logo really stand out which is great as we wanted this to be the main focus of the jersey. We take enormous pride in designing for Ulster and we hope both the players and the fans are as pleased with the new kit as we are.”
